Google is set to enhance its search results by providing more comprehensive news coverage and indexing podcasts.
These updates were revealed at Google I/O during a live-streamed keynote featuring CEO Sundar Pichai. Pichai began the keynote focusing on Google’s core product – its search engine.
The company plans to integrate a feature from Google News into search results.
### Full Coverage in Google News Results
Last year, Google introduced a “Full Coverage” feature in Google News. This feature appears when breaking stories are covered by multiple outlets.
With “Full Coverage,” users are directed to a page compiling all relevant stories from Google News publishers. Later this year, this full coverage experience will be incorporated into search results pages.
### Podcasts Indexed in Google Search
Previously, it was reported that Google was auto-transcribing podcasts, allowing them to be searchable in the Google Podcasts app. This ensures users can search for podcasts by title and the content discussed in an episode.
Soon, these podcasts will be indexed in Google’s search results, enabling them to be discovered in a similar manner. Users will be able to play podcasts directly from the search results or save episodes for later.
Further details on podcast indexing may emerge during Google I/O, which continues until May 9.
