Google is reviving webmaster help videos on YouTube with a new series called “SEO Snippets.”
The new series aims to provide concise answers to specific SEO questions. For example, one of the initial videos features Google’s John Mueller discussing how to handle situations where a site template contains multiple H1 tags.
The “SEO Snippets” videos are reminiscent of the Matt Cutts Q&A videos from years ago. Google’s outreach efforts have had a gap since Cutts took leave in 2014 and eventually resigned in 2016.
Given this context, these videos are likely to be a welcome addition to Google’s communication strategy. Matt Cutts’ videos were quite popular, and it has been about three years since a new one was published.
Google will select questions for the SEO Snippets videos from frequently asked questions in the Webmaster Central Forum. If you have a question for the Google team, that’s the place where you need to voice it.
Some questions addressed in the videos so far include:
– Is a crawl-delay rule ignored by Googlebot?
– Subdomain or subfolder, which is better for SEO?
– My site’s template has multiple H1 tags
– How do I regain ownership of a Search Console property?
– Do fixed penalties affect SEO?
