Yoast version 20.0 introduces significant changes to its user interface, streamlining the process of optimizing a WordPress site.
New User Interface
The updated interface replaces the older method of navigating through multiple tabs to access settings. Instead, it introduces a card-style layout.
This new interface does not require users to make numerous selections as the previous tab-based design did. Instead, it presents information through a series of features that users can toggle on or off, creating a more intuitive and user-friendly experience.
Each category of settings has its own row, featuring cards that represent individual settings, which can be toggled on or off.
The structure of the settings page includes:
- Setting Category
- Card – Card – Card
Each setting card contains an image at the top, an explanation of the setting beneath the image, and an on/off toggle along with a "Learn More" link at the bottom for further details on that particular setting.
A Yoast Settings Card
The display changes to grayscale when a setting is turned off. If the image is in color, the setting is enabled. This allows users to quickly see which settings are active or inactive at a glance.
This new macro view of the settings page enhances user understanding and efficiency by eliminating the need for extensive clicking and scrolling.
Each card includes a brief explanation of the setting, and users have the option to click the "learn more" button for a detailed explanation of the specific setting.
The “API Integrations” settings page also employs a similar card-style interface, simplifying the process of recognizing and enabling various integrations, such as with the Elementor workflow.
Yoast API Integrations Page
Having installed a preview version of Yoast 20.0 on a test site, the initial setup and new user interface proved to be impressive.
With nearly 25 years of SEO experience, I find the latest version of Yoast to be the most user-friendly SEO plugin to date. The user interface is so intuitive that individuals of any knowledge level can use it without needing to read a manual. However, background information is readily accessible with just a click.
Thijs de Valk, CEO of Yoast, shared:
“I’m really proud of what the team has built in the Yoast SEO 20.0 release. …Our new user interface shows we’ll keep delivering the best possible experience to our users.”
I concur. Yoast SEO 20.0 marks a significant advancement, and users will undoubtedly appreciate the updates.
