Study: Businesses on Google’s First Page Have an Average 4.4 Star Rating

Businesses that rank on the first page of Google’s local search results have an average review rating of 4.42 stars. This information comes from a recent study that examines the relationship between Google reviews and local rankings.

The study found a strong correlation between high star ratings and better rankings in Google searches. Businesses in the top 3 positions are more likely to have an average rating of 4-5 stars, with 64% of such businesses achieving this rating.

For businesses ranking in positions 7-10, 59% have a 4-5 star rating. Additionally, only 20% of businesses in the top 3 positions were found to have no Google reviews, compared to 26% of businesses in positions 7-10.

These numbers highlight the importance of maintaining a favorable star rating for achieving better Google local search rankings. Positive reviews signal to Google that a business is trustworthy and provides a good customer experience, making it more likely that Google will direct searchers to those businesses.
