Businesses can now showcase their commitment to environmentalism through their Google Business Profile.
This initiative helps companies leverage the growing eco-consciousness among consumers, driven by concerns about climate change and sustainability.
Increasing Number Of Customers Value Eco-Consciousness
A survey conducted by Google indicates that 82% of consumers consider sustainability a top priority when making purchasing decisions.
This trend is reflected in the popularity of searches related to “recycling,” which has an average popularity score of 81 out of 100.
Search queries such as “climate change,” “sustainability,” and “renewable energy” have also seen significant interest.
According to a 2021 report by Ipsos, 68% of people believe that businesses failing to act on climate change are letting their customers down.
The 2021 Business of Sustainability Index by GreenPrint found that 78% of Americans are more likely to buy products clearly labeled as environmentally friendly.
Companies Can Now Highlight Recycling Capabilities
Since the environmental movement began in the 1970s, providing access to recycling services has been a significant challenge.
With growing consumer demand, more businesses are now offering these services.
To assist searchers in finding recycling services, Google has added a new recycling attribute to Business Profiles. This addition makes it easier for people to locate recycling points in search results and on Google Maps.
Whether consumers are looking to recycle plastic, glass bottles, or old electronics, a simple search can now guide them to the right place. By adding this information, businesses can benefit from demonstrating their environmental stewardship.
Adding Recycling To Business Profiles
There are over 3,000 Google Business Profile categories, with attributes categorized as either subjective or factual.
Subjective attributes include user opinions, such as whether a business is family-friendly or casual. In contrast, factual attributes, like recycling capabilities, are maintained by the business.
Adding recycling to a Google Business Profile is straightforward. Navigate to the info tab, click on “From the business – Add attributes,” and select “recycling” from the list.
This addition will enable the Business Profile to appear in searches by people looking for eco-friendly ways to dispose of items. The recycling attribute joins other valued categories, such as accessibility, amenities, payment options, and health and safety.
