New Data Reveals SEO Service Pricing Trends in 2019

A study conducted on digital marketing pricing reveals the rates charged by SEO consultants and agencies for their services in 2019. The findings, published by Credo, are based on responses from 271 marketing agencies and consultants. The aim was to identify the industry average for digital marketing services, particularly in the US and UK. The survey inquired about topics such as:

– Minimum charges for a project
– Average hourly rates
– Fees for a monthly retainer

### SEO Agency and Consultant Rates

#### Hourly Rates
In the US, 71% of SEO agencies charge between $101-$200 per hour, considerably higher than the global average. On a worldwide scale, only 22.75% of agencies charge within that range. A majority of SEO agencies globally (83%) charge under $200 per hour, with 30.98% charging between $101-$150 per hour. As of January 2019, the average hourly rate for SEO consultants worldwide is $148. In the US, 75.42% of SEO consultants charge between $101-$200 per hour.

#### Minimums for Single Projects
Nearly half (49.59%) of global respondents indicated they would undertake a single project for less than $2,000, compared to 43% of respondents in the US. At the higher end, 20% of SEO agencies globally do not accept projects for less than $5,000. Most SEO consultants worldwide (29.89%) charge a minimum of $1,000-$1,999 for a single project, which aligns closely with 31.91% of US respondents.

#### Minimum Monthly Retainer
Globally, most SEO agencies (25.81%) require a minimum monthly retainer of less than $1,000. SEO consultants charge slightly more, with 32.18% of global respondents requiring between $1,000-$1,999 as a minimum monthly retainer. In the US, the majority of SEO consultants (36.17%) charge a minimum monthly retainer of $1,000-$1,999. Only 6% of respondents have no minimum requirement.
