Later this year, Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMPs) will start receiving increased exposure in Google’s mobile search results. This includes sites such as e-commerce, entertainment, travel, cooking, and more.
Increased exposure means that AMP pages will soon appear in the regular set of organic search listings, whereas previously they were limited to their own carousel at the top of the search engine results pages (SERPs).
Earlier this month, Google introduced a preview of this expanded exposure, and within the next few months, it is expected to go live for all searchers.
Accelerated mobile pages were developed to reduce the amount of time it takes content to load on a mobile browser. Given that 40% of people are likely to leave a site if it takes longer than 3 seconds to load, every second counts.
Since the introduction of AMPs, over 4 million AMP pages are being created each second. If you need assistance with implementing AMP pages on your site, the Google team is available for questions on social media using the #AMPlify hashtag.
