Google Reportedly Introducing a ‘Snapchat Discover’ Feature to Search

Google is reportedly working on introducing a publishing feature similar to Snapchat Discover within its search engine.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the feature is expected to be named “Stamp” and would be developed using AMP technology.

This indicates that the feature would be mobile-focused, offering stories that are more streamlined and faster-loading than those currently available on Snapchat Discover.

The Journal further mentions that Google is already in discussions with CNN, The Washington Post, Time, Vox Media, and others. A Google spokesperson shared:

“Ever since the beginning of AMP we’ve constantly collaborated with publishers, and are working on many new features.”

This development is another indication of Google expanding beyond traditional search to continue being a go-to destination for information seekers.

Additionally, Google has recently announced plans to redesign its homepage to feature a personalized news feed. Essentially, the desktop and mobile homepages will become more similar to Google’s mobile app.

These initiatives represent significant strides toward a future where information is proactively delivered to users without them having to request it through a search query.
