The Google November spam update that began rolling out on November 3rd is now fully deployed. Google informed us 8 days after the initial rollout began that it is now complete.
The announcement. Here is the announcement about the update from Google on Twitter:
Impact. The full impact of this update remains hard to gauge. We believe this update had significant effects, but you would have only noticed it if you were engaging in spam efforts that this algorithm specifically targeted. Google suggested this was related to content spam rather than link spam.
Previous updates. Prior to this, the most recent confirmed Google update was the link spam update in July 2021. Before that, there was the July 2021 core update, followed by the June 2021 core update, and part one and part two of the spam updates in June 2021. It has been a busy year for updates.
Why we care. If you notice significant changes in your rankings or traffic from organic Google search results, it could be due to this spam update. These updates target specific guideline violations and this one may have been more focused on content spam efforts. Check your rankings and Google organic traffic over the past week to see if you noticed any big shifts in your positions.
