Google My Business Now Allows Businesses to Add Products to Listings

Google My Business has been observed testing a new feature allowing businesses to add collections of products to their listings, as opposed to services.

This feature was noticed by local SEO specialist Nathan Schoell, who shared a screenshot on Twitter.

Nathan Schoell tweeted about experimenting with a new Google My Business beta feature called Products (Beta). This feature seems to replace the Services menu in the Info tab, allowing businesses to set up collections with products. Schoell mentioned he’s also including service items.

According to Schoell, this feature appears in the same place where businesses would typically add services to their listing. Each product can display the name, a 1,000-character description, the price, and a photo.

In Schoell’s experience, the option to add services has been replaced with products for his car dealership business, which is logical since a dealership primarily sells products. He mentioned in follow-up tweets that the option to add services still exists for business listings in other categories.

This suggests that the rollout might be dependent on whether a business category specializes in products or services.

Naturally, if a business offers both products and services, there’s nothing preventing them from including a mix of both in their Google My Business listings.

Mike Blumenthal, an expert in local search, also noted on Twitter that he saw this feature recently.

It seems to be in its early stages, but the feature appears to be gradually becoming available to more users.
