Google now allows users to add “Call Now” buttons to posts created in Google My Business. Tapping on this button will initiate a phone call to the primary phone number listed in the Google My Business profile. However, businesses cannot change the phone number linked to the “Call Now” button, meaning tracking numbers cannot be used.
This feature was spotted by Colan Nielsen and shared on social media. Nielsen noted that it seems available for businesses across all categories. Joy Hawkins also mentioned that after clicking the “Call Now” button, she was prompted to leave a review for the business. This suggests businesses should provide exceptional phone service, as customers might be asked to review immediately.
While the “Call Now” button is new, call-to-action (CTA) buttons in Google My Business posts are not. Users have been able to add CTAs since the posting feature was introduced the previous year. In addition to phone calls, businesses can use CTA buttons to direct customers to make a reservation, sign up for newsletters, purchase a product, or access special offers.
Any business with a verified Google My Business listing can create these posts, which appear in search results, Google Maps, and the Google My Business page itself.
