Google My Business Introduces a New Way to Report Spam

Google has introduced a new method for reporting fraudulent activities linked to Google My Business and Maps.

Users now have the option to submit a complaint form if they encounter a Maps or GMB listing that appears to be fraudulent.

Complaints submitted via this form will be reviewed according to Google’s guidelines for business representation on Google Maps.

With this new system, Google has decided to shut down the spam board on the Google My Business forums.

Previously, spam-related issues were reported on that forum. Users should now use the new complaint form instead.

### More Information About the Complaint Form

Joy Hawkins inquired with Google to gather more details about the new form and shared her findings on her local search message board.

After submitting a complaint, users will receive a generic response. Google will not disclose specific details about the resolution of the complaint.

The complaint form allows users to upload spreadsheets for reporting multiple locations simultaneously.

Currently, the form should not be used for reporting fake reviews. Such complaints should be directed to Google My Business social support on Twitter or Facebook.

The complaint form is designed for reporting fraudulent activity related to the name, phone number, or URL of a business.
