Google has introduced a new mobile-friendly page testing tool, accessible through the mobile usability report in Search Console.
However, a word of caution: the tool may not function properly on mobile devices. During my attempts with both my phone and tablet, I repeatedly encountered an error stating "no robots allowed." Google will need to address this issue, as a mobile usability test should naturally be usable on mobile devices.
When I ultimately managed to test it using my desktop computer, the "no robots allowed" message transformed into a clickable checkmark, allowing me to proceed with the test.
The revamped mobile usability tool emphasizes three actionable steps: checking if your site is mobile-friendly, accessing the site-wide mobile usability report in Search Console for in-depth insights, and exploring help center articles on mobile-friendly pages. Additionally, you can engage with Google’s discussion groups for further questions or comments.
"The updated tool offers room for continued improvements and is expected to eventually replace the previous Mobile Friendly Test. Moreover, it works well on smartphones for on-the-go checks!"
The tool is now live, so ensure your site meets Google’s mobile usability standards.
