Google has introduced new activity cards to assist users in resuming their previous search activities. These cards will be displayed at the top of search results for logged-in users when revisiting a topic they have searched for before.
The activity cards will feature links to pages previously visited, along with a carousel of queries that led to those pages. Users have the option to save links from an activity card to a collection by long-pressing on them.
These collections are accessible by tapping the menu on the top left of the Search page on the mobile web or through the bottom bar in the Google app. Google states that the purpose of these cards is to aid users in tasks that require more than a simple query.
“You might be looking for information to help you complete a longer-running task, whether it’s meal planning for a new food regimen, researching new stretching routines for post-gym recovery, or picking up a new hobby. You might come back to Search to find information on the same topic, hoping to retrace your steps or discover new, related ideas.”
Activity cards may appear when searching for topics like cooking, interior design, fashion, skincare and beauty, fitness, photography, and more.
Only logged-in users will have access to their activity cards, and these will not contain information about another user’s searches. The rollout of activity cards begins today on both the mobile web and the Google app in the U.S., with availability currently limited to English.
