Google has expanded access to Google Posts, allowing more verified entities such as musicians, museums, sports teams, sports leagues, and movies in the US to post content directly to search results.
Google Posts enables eligible users to publish text, images, videos, and events on the front page of search results. When someone searches for the name of the entity, the latest Google Posts will be displayed prominently.
Posts appear instantly on both mobile and desktop, similar to how they would on Twitter, Facebook, or other social networks. Users also have the option to schedule posts for future publication. On the publisher’s side, Google offers metrics to track how many people have viewed and interacted with the posts.
To start publishing via Google Posts, entities must first be verified through Google My Business. Once verified, if the business category is supported by Google Posts, an application form must be filled out. Google promises to respond via email within a week with an update on the application status.
Google is continuing to test this feature with other categories and regions, so more entities are likely to gain access to Google Posts in the future.
