Google Enables Businesses to Set Auto Responses for Common Questions

Google is introducing a new feature for Business Profiles that enables the creation of automated responses for frequently asked questions from customers.

With this feature, you can propose questions for customers to ask when messaging your business through your Google Business Profile, much like a customer service chatbot on business websites.

In the style of a chatbot, you can also configure automated responses to these questions.

This feature was noticed by SEO professional Stefan Somborac, who shared his findings on Twitter. He highlighted that the new feature for Messages on Google Business Profile allows the creation of up to 10 FAQs, with questions limited to a maximum of 40 characters and answers to 500 characters. He noted that answers can include links, providing an excellent opportunity to guide customers to comprehensive content on your website.

There hasn’t been an official announcement regarding the addition of automated FAQs for Google Business Profiles. However, this new feature was confirmed by checking a help page with the Wayback Machine, showing that the FAQs section is a recent addition.

Here’s more information on how automated FAQs function and how to configure them for your business.

How To Set Up Automated FAQs On Your Google Business Profile:

Businesses can now prepare a list of questions for customers to ask when they start a chat via your profile on Google. You can develop a response for each question that sends automatically, so the customer doesn’t have to wait for a reply. This feature is especially useful if you frequently receive the same questions, helping you save time and better serve your customers.

You can also utilize this feature to direct customers from Google to your website by including links in your responses, leading them to a page that addresses their queries.

To enable automated FAQs for your Google Business Profile, follow these steps:

  • Search for “my business” in Google on a web browser.
  • Click Customers and then Messages.
  • Click Menu, then Message settings, and then Manage frequently asked questions.
  • Click +Add a question.

You can set up ten questions per business profile, with a maximum of 40 characters for questions and 500 characters for answers.
