Google Assistant Now Offers Insights on Slang, Beer, and Men’s Fashion

Google Assistant can now enlighten you about what it means to “get lit” while enjoying “small batch IPAs” and keeping up with the latest trends in men’s fashion.

Recent reports indicate that around 20 new conversation actions or services have been added to Google Assistant over the past few weeks. Notably, the virtual assistant has been upgraded with a beer guide, a slang dictionary, and information about men’s fashion.

The latest additions seem to be focused on fun, with examples illustrating what Google Assistant can now do:

“Narwhal Bacon will serve up random facts and posts shared on Reddit, while Able Style will offer men’s fashion tips. You can simultaneously check out the Able Style platform while Google Assistant is speaking to you to see suggested wardrobe visuals live onscreen. Wardrobe suggestions are made based on local weather and will eventually be personalized according to your preferences.”

This update also includes controllers for additional Internet of Things (IoT) devices from Home Bond, Quick Remote, and Stringify.

Although Google Assistant is available on many new Android devices, the Allo messaging app, and several Android Wear devices, the third-party actions discussed here are only accessible via Google Home.

With this latest update, Google Assistant’s conversation actions have surpassed the 100 mark, now reaching about 105 third-party services. To see a complete list of Google Assistant actions, go to “More settings” in the Google Home app and click on “Services.”
