Google is introducing a new section in search results specifically for AMP Stories. Announced over a year ago, AMP Stories are now being broadly implemented. This development was shared at the recent AMP conference in Tokyo:
AMP Stories now have a dedicated section in search results for general queries, such as “things to do in Tokyo”. This offers a new opportunity to attract users through SEO.
AMP Stories function similarly to Instagram stories but are built on the AMP framework. Unlike other stories, AMP Stories are available as standalone web pages, allowing them to be linked like any other webpage. This distinction also means they can remain online as long as the creator desires, unlike traditional stories that disappear after 24 hours.
AMP Stories will initially appear for travel-related searches, with expansion to other search types planned for the future. For those interested in creating AMP Stories, a tutorial is available to help you get started.
