Google is currently testing a new feature that allows businesses to publish offers directly in search results through their Google My Business pages. This functionality is integrated into Google Posts, which has been available to all companies with a verified Google My Business profile since the previous summer. Google Posts enables businesses to write brief messages that display in Maps and search results when users search for the business name.
Previously, Posts were limited to plain text, multimedia, or events. However, Google is now testing a new type of post specifically for offers. A social media post highlighted how these “Offers” are being introduced.
An offer post can include several components:
– A photo
– Up to 300 words of text
– A post title
– Start and end dates/times
– An optional coupon code
– A link to the offer
What many businesses might find appealing is that posting offers appears to be free of charge. While these offers may not have the same reach as paid advertisements, they provide businesses with an opportunity to promote sales in search results without incurring costs.
Not all users are currently able to access this feature, suggesting it is still in the testing phase.
