Automattic has revealed that Jetpack, a tool with over 5 million users, is now available as six individual plugins. This update allows users to select specific features without the need to install the entire suite.

Automattic, the for-profit division of WordPress, makes most of its projects available under the General Public License. Jetpack is an all-encompassing WordPress utility designed to enhance site security, backup, performance, and other functionalities. One key advantage of Jetpack is that it offers multiple essential features in a single solution, ensuring compatibility and reducing potential plugin conflicts. However, its comprehensive nature has often been seen as a drawback for those who do not require all its features.
Jetpack Now Available As Six Plugins
Automattic has catered to user feedback and now offers Jetpack in six distinct plugins, allowing for more flexibility. Jetpack CEO James Grierson noted, "Many developers and site owners asked for the flexibility to use specific components of Jetpack as part of their own custom-built ‘tech stack’ of plugins. We listened. The new Jetpack plugins will provide that flexibility, as well as enhance the overall WordPress experience.”
Plugin Details
Some plugins are newly introduced, while others have been available for one to two years.

Jetpack Backup
This plugin, which reached version 1.0 in October 2021, is a website backup tool that covers themes, plugins, and databases, including WooCommerce customer data. It allows users to restore their site to any previous state, even if offline.
Jetpack Protect
It enhances website security by daily scanning plugins and themes for vulnerabilities, using the WPScan vulnerability library.
Jetpack Boost
Introduced in April 2021, this plugin improves website performance by generating critical CSS, deferring non-essential JavaScript, and enabling lazy loading.
Jetpack Social
This tool acts as a social sharing management hub, allowing users to manage all their social channels from one location.
Jetpack Search
Offers advanced search features like autopredict, autocorrect spelling, instant results, real-time indexing, and more.
Jetpack CRM
Available since 2020, this plugin helps manage clients with a management portal, invoicing, billing system, and other features.
Jetpack Original All-in-One
The original Jetpack version will continue as it is for now. However, some of its functions may eventually be split into individual plugins. Users can re-integrate these features without difficulty if needed.
